Pool Play

1. Pool Stage

During the pool stage, competitors are split into different pools. Previous edition players will be seeded based on the points they obtained. Within each pool, each competitor will compete with their fellow pool competitors in a round robin format.

Points are calculated on a Win-Loss basis. Points are calculated based on the final results of each match.

In the case of a tie in points, score differentials are used. Score differentials are calculated by tallying up all the scoresets of the completed matches.

When there is a tie in score differentials, a H2H score differential is calculated between the players to break the tie.

2. Playoffs Stage

The top 2-3 of each pool are placed into a playoff single elimination bracket to determine the overall winner of the competition. Jim and some admins will host the finals, which will be open for anyone to come and watch.

Match Format

Default match format:

■ Best of 3 6-game sets
■ No-Ad (Deciding point, a.k.a sudden death, is played at Deuce. Receiver chooses where to receive) - ITF Rule Appendix VI: "No-ad" scoring method
■ 10-point super tiebreak 3rd set - ITF Rule Appendix VI: Final set tie-break

One player may politely propose an alternative format (e.g 9-game pro set). The other player should feel free to decline without any ill feeling or worry about hurting anybody’s feelings.

■ Competitors change ends at the end of the first, third and every subsequent odd game of each set
■ 10 minutes official warm-up
■ 90 seconds allowed for changing ends on odd games except after the first game of a set and a tie break when players shall change ends without a rest period

Nasi Lemak Open Tennis Etiquette
& Rules

Please read the rules carefully to ensure a smooth and enjoyable tournament for everyone

Welcome to the Nasi Lemak Open, where tennis meets fun, fair play, and, of course, great food!

The winner buys a Nasi Lemak or brings a bottled water for their opponent as a friendly gesture.

If you forfeit your match within 24 hours of the scheduled time, you must donate $10 to UNICEF or another charity. No-shows are discouraged!

This tournament is all about competitive yet friendly matches where everyone gets to enjoy the game. We expect all players to follow these principles of Fair Play:

✅ Honest Self-Rating – Choose the right division based on your true skill level to ensure balanced matches.
✅ Respect Your Opponent – Win or lose, treat your opponent with courtesy and fairness.
✅ Call Lines Fairly – Give your opponent the benefit of the doubt on close calls.
✅ Keep Score Clearly – Announce the score before each point to avoid confusion.
✅ Win with Humility, Lose with Grace – And, of course, don’t forget the Nasi Lemak tradition! 🍛😉

Play hard, play fair, and most importantly—have fun! 🎾🔥

Players arrange matches among themselves, book courts, provide new balls and share costs. They should agree on the court location and type of balls to be used beforehand. If there is dispute, default to any ActiveSG court and any ITF approved tennis balls.

The same court should not be used for more than half the matches in each pool to discourage “home ground advantage”

15 minutes late from agreed start time = walkover for the other player

If a match is interrupted for some reason (e.g due to weather) and both players are genuinely unable to play further, the player leading in the number of games won will take the win.

If there is still a dispute that cannot be resolved, contact Jim privately.
